La rivoluzione digitale ha provocato un cambiamento radicale nella vita politica dell’intero pianeta. I sistemi politici hanno più o meno rapidamente modificato i loro comportamenti, spesso in modo poco trasparente, come ha evidenziato il gravissimo caso dei Cambridge Analytics. La politica di prossimità ha spesso lasciato il posto a una politica mediata dal web. Gli algoritmi hanno spinto la politica alla polarizzazione e alla spettacolarizzazione. Il corso approfondirà alcuni elementi di comprensione dei fenomeni digitali contemporanei, toccando le seguenti aree tematiche: storia dei media, con particolare attenzione ai media digitali; implicazioni antropologiche, psicologiche, sociali e civili della rivoluzione digitale rispetto ai media tradizionali; commistione accentuata tra economia e politica indotta o accentuata dal digitale; potere ormai consolidato delle grandi società transnazionali nel digitale, con le inevitabili implicazioni giuridiche ed economiche; necessità di una nuova governance del digitale; necessario coordinamento tra governance del digitale e governance propriamente politica;  mergenza non lineare della società civile e dei social network nella politica.
