Bernard J.F. Lonergan’s Method in Theology

Fil 110 Bernard J.F. Lonergan’s Method in Theology

Class hours: 21

Credits (ECTS): 3

LM-OT Specialization in Theology

Year: 2nd

Term: 2nd

Course held in Italian

In the previous course (FIL 109) the student was invited to undergo a process of self-appropriation to discover a transcendental method imminent within human cognitional structure. In Method in Theology, transcendental method is extended to incorporate religious experience and in a particular way the Christian faith. As a consequence of this method, theology can be subdivided into eight functional specialities: research, interpretation, history, dialectic, foundations, doctrine, systematics, communications. The objective if this course is to discover together Lonergan’s method in theology and help each student to:

  1. develop a critical method for his or her academic life;
  2. grasp a Trinitarian method implicit in Method in Theology;
  3. to learn how to give a professional presentation.
