Il corso intende studiare la capacità umana del custodire approfondendola in quanto struttura antropologica. Nella prima parte viene definito il campo semantico dell’atto custodiente, a partire dallo studio di importanti figure di custodi, descritte in alcune letterature antiche: ebraica, greca e latina. Si analizzerà il ruolo di simboli archetipici con lo scopo di mettere in luce le caratteristiche proprie della persona custos, che man mano prenderà forma accanto ad altre immagini che nel corso della storia hanno cercato di esprimere l’essere umano. Nella seconda parte le caratteristiche del custodire verranno precisate attraverso il confronto con quelle del curare, per poterne distinguere le differenze e comprendere quali ruoli, quali forme di responsabilità e norme etiche possano discendere da ciascuno dei due elementi antropologici, nei diversi campi della realtà sociale. Infine, si approfondirà il paradigma relazionale che la custodia e la cura, insieme, possono generare, esplorando in particolare la sua applicazione nel campo politico, per la costruzione di comunità capaci di dialogo tra diversi, di emancipazione ed inclusione di vecchi e nuovi cittadini.
