Course held in Italian
The course aims to deepen, in a historical-sociological perspective, the role of religions in international processes, evident in the influence they have on culture, economy, politics, and in general on the whole of society. In a world increasingly interconnected under the push of the economy and the development of digital technologies, but not easily coordinated at the political level and fragmented into many different identities, a “glue” that can nourish forms of harmonious coexistence is missing. In this sense, religions appear in the front row as an obstacle or as resources to face this challenge.
K. Jaspers (1949) hoped to see a “new axial epoch” for religions. The course aims to critically highlight this possibility, starting from the most recent experiences of interreligious meeting, such as that of Abu Dhabi between Pope Francis and the great imam of Al-Azhar Al-Tayyeb (February 2019), which would seem to highlight that the religions can now truly begin to “walk together”.
