LM-SP – Specialization in International Politics and Law
Year: 1st
Term: 2nd
Course held in English
The course “Psychology and Psychopathology of Power” intends to deepen the main personal implications that characterize the evolution of power and its management from childhood to adulthood.
Initially, the focus will be on the importance of primary relationships. The different styles of childhood attachment, as known in the literature, contribute to the prevention and risk of mental disorder. Each mental disorder is characterized by different management of the power that the person can exercise towards himself and the world.
The aim of the course will be to grasp the relationship among attachment style, management of personal power, and mental disorder. In addition, there will be a focus on the adolescent phase to observe the relationship between lack of individuation process and the establishment of substance/behavioral addiction.
Finally, the course will aim at observing how the management of power in adulthood influences the political and corporate professional contexts.
