The course introduces students to statistical concepts and methods applicable across the social sciences, to help them acquire basic knowledge and skills necessary for research work in economics and management. Students will be expected to undertake a research project involving hypothesis testing and decision-making drawing on real data. The course will also include an introduction to the foundations of scientific methodology, noting its achievements, challenges, and limits. A statistical package will be used throughout the course.
