Il corso si propone di offrire un’intelligenza dell’autocoscienza ecclesiale attraverso una duplice strada interpretativa. Prima parte, storica: approfondimento delle diverse figure storiche assunte dalla Chiesa lungo il suo bimillenario cammino. Seconda parte, sistematica: presentazione di alcuni temi fondamentali dell’ecclesiologia per l’illustrazione dell’essere e della missione della Chiesa. Entrambe le parti muovono dalla presentazione normativa della Chiesa nella Scrittura e, nel solco della Tradizione, nel magistero della Chiesa. Il Concilio Vaticano II costituisce in tal modo il punto di arrivo della prima parte e il fondamento interpretativo della seconda.
