Il corso si pone un duplice obiettivo: 1. suscitare negli studenti la capacità di riconoscere l’impronta dell’agire umano nello spazio fisco; 2. fornire strumenti per interpretare la città contemporanea, le dinamiche economiche e sociali che la generano e le trasformazioni che la attraversano. La comprensione della città contemporanea richiede, infatti, di acquisire una varietà di strumenti interpretativi e di imparare a tenere legate dimensione storica e spaziale, sociale e culturale, politica ed economica. Temi principali sono: 1. Osservare la città: metodi e strumenti. 2. Il viaggio come esplorazione e conoscenza del mondo. 3. La differenza tra spazio e luogo. 4. Origini e caratteri della città europea. 5. L’abitare come dimensione relazionale del vivere. 6. Suolo, ambiente, cultura civile.
