The course focuses on the relationship between political theology and the theology of politics. The proposed itinerary will be marked by the analysis of the historical use of these two models in the course of European history and by the comparison between the two protagonists of this debate in the 20th century: Carl Schmitt and Erik Peterson. The former was an apologist of politics as civil religion, the latter, was a critic of any sacred legitimisation of the political. The aim of the course is to help understand the link between politics and religion by providing intellectual tools that are indispensable for understanding the contemporary political context.
