Is There Such a Thing as Catholic Thought? Massimo Borghesi Guest at the Sophia Lectures Series

On Friday, 12 June 2026, at 8:45 p.m., in the Aula Magna of the Sophia University Institute, a new meeting of the Sophia Lectures Series will take place, a series of public lectures dedicated to thought, research, and cultural dialogue.

Prof. Massimo Borghesi, full professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Perugia, will be the guest speaker for the evening, offering a reflection entitled: “Is There Such a Thing as Catholic Thought? Philosophical Perspectives for Our Time”

The question at the heart of the meeting concerns not only the identity of a cultural and religious tradition, but also the possibility of a manner of thought capable of critically engaging with the transformations of the present. In an era marked by cultural fragmentation, ideological polarization, and new anthropological challenges, questioning the existence and meaning of “Catholic thought” means rethinking the relationship between faith, reason, history, and public life.

The event will offer an opportunity to explore the contribution of Catholic philosophy to contemporary debate, highlighting its ability to engage with the major issues of our time: the person, society, freedom, justice, democracy, technology, and the destiny of humanity.
